Howdy! I’m Amanda. I’m a big believer that you don’t have to be an expert or a designer to make your home beautiful – and I’m here to teach you exactly how easy it can be. I started Love & Renovations back in 2011 as a creative outlet and a way to encourage myself to work on making our house a home. All these years later, it has turned into one of my biggest passions to help people learn how to tackle projects around their house without a lot of DIY know-how or experience. I love to share easy, affordable DIY projects, inspiration for your home, and tips and tricks for keeping things organized.
I live in Austin, TX with my husband (Corey), our son (Jackson), and our two dogs (Cullen & Hadley). I’m a special education teacher, and my husband is an accountant. We moved into our 80’s, builder-grade home in 2011 and we chose our home specifically because we could tell it was in need of some love and we wanted to give it a go. We purchased the home from the original homeowners, and they were clearly DIY-enthusiasts without a lot of knowledge or a wide skill set. The texture and paint in the kitchen is hiding three (yes, three!) layers of wallpaper, the exterior paint job looks like it was done by a five year old, and almost no personality had been added to the house. We moved in and dove headfirst into making some big changes, and now when we aren’t working, chasing after our toddler, or watching Netflix, you can find us dreaming of how we can improve our home even more. It’s a slow process, but little tweaks here and there like a fresh coat of paint, new flooring, and some creativity add up to a whole lot of change over time.
We’ve had a blast with this journey so far, and we still have a long way to go – from big kitchen and bathroom renovations all the way down to painting a few walls! Our project list is approximately three-thousand miles long (and I’m long-winded), so I don’t think I’ll ever run out of things to talk about.
